Welcome to Ted Forrest Fans.com!

Ted Forrest is one of the best poker players in the world.  His friendly table manner and "boy next door" good looks make him my favorite player to watch on TV.  This site is dedicated to all things Ted.  Be sure to check out the extensive links and gallery sections.  Come back often and feel free to make suggestions!

WSOP update
Sorry I haven't posted.  My husband and I were out of town for quite a while.  For a part of our trip we went to Las Vegas to watch the $50,000 HORSE.  We railed Ted until he went out late on day 2.

Day 1 was a lot of fun because Ted's table was right on the rail.  We could see the up cards and hear their conversations.  At Ted's table on day 1 were Bruno Fitoussi, Mike Sexton, Rafi Amit, Phil Helmuth, and Nick Shulman (and two other players we didn't know by name).  Ted spent a while trying to work out details on a bet that the winner of the HORSE would have at least two bracelets.  He was offering even money that they would.  I wanted to get action on that one, and was very relieved that I couldn't when Scotty took it down.

On day two, we couldn't see much except which direction the pot was pushed.  Of course, all of the tables are tough in this event, but Ted's had Erick Lindgren, Gus Hansen, Allen Cunningham, Thor Hansen, and Chad Brown.  Then with less than an hour of play left every pot Ted was in got pushed away from him.  Before we knew it he was out.

We didn't see him again, so I think he didn't play another event until the Main Event.  He played on day 2 and went out part way through.

I will keep you posted if I find anything new.  However, when my site renewal comes up in October I expect to let it expire.  I just wanted to let my couple of regular readers know.  Thanks for coming here and reading for the last 3 years.

Go for the .38
I happened to find this story on Richard Brodie's blog.  It isn't much, but it is the kind of goofy story that I enjoy sharing.

"Ted [Forrest] and Shannon [Shore] were discussing whether they'd rater have a .38 revolver versus a grizzly bear or a knife against a tiger. I suggested I'd rather have the bottle of suntan lotion against the Hawaiian Tropic model because even if I didn't survive -- what a way to go. Ted scowled and said that wasn't one of the choices. I said, 'Sir, if you ever want to be a winning poker player you must learn to think outside of the box.'"

Ted out of PLO in 5th
It isn't as fun to write about Ted busting out as it is to write about him going deep.  Still, he did fantastic and it was great to watch him go so deep.  The new tournament structure seems to be really increasing the skill factor in these events.  Knowing that, it is even more satisfying to see Ted going so deep time after time.

Here is the hand he went out on:

Ted Forrest Eliminated in Fifth Place ($144,428)

Ted Forrest raised to 130,000 preflop and Makowsky made the call. Jacobo Fernandez also called and the flop was dealt J74. Makowsky bet the pot (390,000) and Fernandez mucked. Forrest called all in and they turned up their hands:

Forrest: AK98
Makowsky: JJ55

Turn and River: 58

Forrest was eliminated in fifth place, and he took home $144,428 in prize money.

Pot Limit Omaha updates
GO TED!!!  Day two is done and the final table is set.  Ted is 2nd in chips with 757,000.  The following is the only additional hand posted by CardPlayer:

Kevin O’Donnell Eliminated; Final Table Set

Frank Vizza limped in early position, Kevin O’Donnell limped behind, and Ted Forrest checked from the big blind. The three saw a flop of 865. Forrest checked, Vizza checked, and O’Donnell bet 33,000. Forrest raised to 143,000, Vizza folded, and O’Donnell moved in for only about 40,000 more. Forrest called and the two showed their hands:

O’Donnell: A972
Forrest: 8543

O’Donnell had flopped the nuts and was well ahead of Forrest, who could only claim two-pair and some worthless straight draws. The turn was extremely kind to Forrest though; the 8 gave him a full house and sent Kevin O’Donnell out of the tournament.

With about 480,000 chips Ted is now in 2nd place with 16 players left.  He was in first for a fleeting moment.  Here is another hand history:

Forrest on Fire

Ted Forrest just added to his growing stack in a hand against Frank Vizza. Forrest raised to 25,000 from late position and Vizza called from the button. The flop came AQJ and Forrest checked. Vizza bet 45,000 and Forrest called him. Both players checked the T turn and Forrest bet out big – a pot-sized bet – on the river 2. Vizza tanked, focusing on the newly dealt river card, but eventually laid his hand down. That pot takes Forrest up to a commanding 380,000.

Ted is up to 4th in chips now, at 380,000, the chip leader is only at 460,000 so that is pretty close.  The money bubble has burst, so this is Ted's 3rd cash of the series.  There are 27 players left and they will play down to 9 tonight.  The following hands are from hand-for-hand play:

Forrest Owning Hand for Hand

Ted Forrest and Francisco Azares saw a flop of QQ2. Both checked and the turn was the A. Forrest led out with 16,000 and Azares mucked his hand, but the two would meet again later.

On a board of K96, Ted Forrest announced bet the pot and Azares made the call. The turn was the 2 and Forrest fired another shot, this one 21,000. Azares made the call again and the river came down with the J. Forrest bet the pot, 55,000. Azares went into the tank. Players from the other tables waiting for the hand to finish gathered around, waiting for Azares to make his decision. He finally mucked, and Forrest took another pot.

A few hands later, the flop came down Q75. Forrest bet the pot and Benjamin Hamnett made the call. The turn was the K and both players checked. The river was the 7 and Forrest bet 15,000. Hamnett called again and Forrest turned over 8746 for a set of sevens and Hamnett mucked.

Ted is still going strong in the PLO tournament.  At last check (about an hour into today's play) he is in 6th place and his stack is moving in the right direction.  I will keep adding to this post until I go to bed.  I'll add new info in above this.  The following are from CardPlayer.com:

The Forrest is on Fire

Adams Can't See the Forrest for the Trees

Ted Forrest raised to 5,000 preflop. The player in seat 1 called, as did Dan Adams. The flop came A83 and all players checked. The turn was the 7 and Adams checked to Forrest. He proceeded to fire 15,000. Seat 1 made the call and Adams came over the top for his entire stack. Forrest made the quick call and seat 1 got out of the way. The hands were then turned up.

Forrest: AAJ3
Adams: KJ109

Forrest had top set while Adams had possibilities galore. He had an open ended straight draw to go with his gutshot straight flush draw. But the river was the 8, breaking the lead of Adams' drawing pencil and putting Forrest on a boat with the eight's doing the paddling with the rest of Adams' chips as passengers.
